AMS Newspaper

AMS Newspaper club is perfect for anyone interested in writing, reading, and/or art! Our meetings will be on Mondays from 2:50-3:50 PM in Ms. Phipps’ room (216). Each week will have a different focus so you can choose to come to all meetings or choose the ones that most interest you! Some meetings will revolve around a shared read (The Maze Runner, for example) and writing about this. Other meetings will involve literary activities such as blackout poetry and newspaper articles. AMS Newspaper will also be looking for art pieces to feature as well! Every few months, we will release a digital copy of our literary magazine, featuring work we have done throughout the months. Art Club is a place to be creative, have fun, and make art together. Each week we will have project choices which will include group activities/ games/ contests, working extra on class projects, or working on free-choice art. There is a Google Classroom set up where students can share ideas, show their work, and post comments. We will meet Wednesdays, from 2:45-3:40 starting September 27. Through their participation, people with and without IDD form meaningful connections with their peers, gain self-confidence and self-esteem, share interests, experiences and activities. Best Buddies helps to create an inclusive middle school culture for all students early on in their educational development. Diversity ClubAdvisors: Mrs. Micucci & Ms. RoyMeets: Thursdays 1x/monthTime: 2:45 -3:40pmWhere: Art RoomStarting: 9/21/2023Diversity Club is a safe space for conversations and support for LGBT+ issues and any other issues around diversity in our school (race, religion, gender, and social issues). We are a group that gets together to talk about differences and to celebrate what makes us each unique. Friends and allies are welcome to join us. We meet once a month on Thursdays from 2:45-3:40 (first meeting will be September 21), and we also have a Google Classroom to chat and post important information. We end the year with a Chalk the Walks for Pride event, Juneteenth celebrations, and a PRIDE party in June. Dungeons & Dragons

If you have, then Dungeons and Dragons Club might be for you! In Dungeons and Dragons Club, members will learn to play the world's most popular role-playing game, Dungeons and Dragons, create their own characters, work together to solve problems and have lots of fun on their way to save the day. Dungeons and Dragons Club welcomes all and no experience playing the game is needed. The club will meet every Monday in the library starting October 16th . Math Counts

MathCounts will run on Mondays from 2:45-3:45 in Room 222.This year we will compete in several competitions including MathCounts and the AMC8. MathCounts has added additional competitions to the series including an invitational in which a minimum of one student per chapter will advance. We will meet Mondays to practice. In addition, we will register interested club members in the Stock Market Game. Our first meeting will be held on Monday, October 2nd.
STEM Club

Do you want to learn more about 3D design and printing? Are you interested in learning how things work? Then the STEM Club is for you! STEM Club is a place where you can hang out with other students to learn new skills or to explore topics that you find interesting. No pre-registration or time commitment is required. We will meet on Wednesdays after school in the STEM classroom (Room 122) from 2:45 to 3:45pm. The first meeting will be on September 27th.Hope to see you there!
